I retired as chief drugs controller at Jinnah Hospital Lahore in 2023. Before joining the hospital, I underwent an operation at the Pakistan Kidney and Liver Institute (PKLI) in November 2021 and was readmitted a week later due to a complication. I submitted a bill of medical reimbursement related to my treatment at PKLI and, in 2022, it was sanctioned by the then secretary primary and secondary healthcare department and by the then medical superintendents.
And yet, I have been running from pillar to post for the last four years for processing of the bill. Sadly, it is not being processed for reasons best known to the authorities. I have submitted various applications and also approached the concerned office time and again but all in vain. The original bill is still lying with the finance department of the hospital without any progress. I request that orders for payment may kindly be made and action may be taken against those responsible for the inordinate delay and the ensuing hardship.
