ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif is scheduled to undertake an official visit to Russia in the first week of March, sources said.
According to government sources, significant progress is expected during the visit regarding the revival of Pakistan Steel Mills. Several agreements and memorandums of understanding (MoUs) are also likely to be finalised.
Regional peace, security, and economic and trade cooperation will be high on the agenda. During the visit, the prime minister is expected to hold meetings with the Russian leadership and discuss matters related to the restoration and revival of Pakistan Steel Mills. Officials said the federal government has prepared a comprehensive roadmap for the revival of the steel mill. Five Russian companies have reportedly shown interest in investment and participation in the project. Describing the visit as highly significant, officials from both sides are finalising key agreements and MoUs ahead of the trip, while arrangements and agenda items are being worked out for the high-level engagements.
