PESHAWAR: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Muhammad Sohail Afridi on Thursday directed officials to finalise the Rs1,000 billion “Roshan Qabail Package” for the merged districts within the current month.
“The package should be finalised within this month and made operational to accelerate development activities in the merged districts,” he said while chairing a meeting to review the service delivery of provincial departments under the Good Governance Roadmap.
Relevant officials briefed the meeting in detail on completed targets and progress on ongoing initiatives.
The chief minister stated that aligning service delivery with public expectations and needs is the fundamental and ultimate mission of the provincial government.
He made it clear that no negligence or delay in the implementation of the Good Governance Roadmap would be tolerated and directed that all delayed matters be completed at the earliest through innovative and result-oriented strategies.
The chief minister instructed that all mid-term measures under the Good Governance Roadmap must be completed by June this year.
He directed that all necessary arrangements be finalised in time to make the Spring Tree Plantation Campaign the largest and most organised plantation drive in the province’s history.
The chief minister emphasised the need to ensure active participation of government employees, students and civil society, and directed that fruit-bearing plants be especially promoted in government offices and official residences.
He directed all provincial departments to immediately initiate the budget preparation process for the next fiscal year.
In addition, he ordered that meetings of the Provincial Development Working Party be held on a weekly basis to ensure timely approval and implementation of development projects.
The chief minister directed that the recruitment of contract doctors in government hospitals be completed by March 5.
He instructed immediate steps for the launch of mammography services in DHQs of southern districts and in regional DHQs of other districts.
The chief minister directed that non-functional and damaged tube wells across the province be restored on a priority basis to provide immediate relief to the public.
In the education sector, he stressed increasing teachers’ attendance in government schools from 90 per cent to 100 per cent and directed the relevant authorities to establish an effective monitoring mechanism.
Reviewing matters related to law and order and infrastructure, he directed the acceleration of construction work on the Kumrat and Hangu–Sarozei roads and ordered strengthened security for anti-polio teams to ensure the campaign continues without disruption.
The chief minister stated that the “Ehsaas Apna Ghar Programme” reflects the vision of the party’s founder, Imran Khan.
He directed that the project be completed on a fast-track basis to ensure the provision of housing facilities to deserving families.
The meeting was informed that a total of 327 interventions had been identified under 17 provincial departments, of which 47 had been completed, while work on 139 was progressing as planned.
It was shared that 268 milestones had been set under the Good Governance Roadmap, with 90 completed and only three currently off track.
