The deployment of Special Security Unit (SSU) commandos at highly sensitive locations in the Kutcha areas has been carried out, said Sindh Police Security Division chief Dr Maqsood Ahmed and added that the construction work of the strategically important Kashmore-Ghotki Bridge, which had been temporarily suspended due to security and operational concerns, has now been resumed.
He said the SSU maintained its presence at the construction site throughout the suspension period to avert any untoward incident and to safeguard the project infrastructure. Moreover, with the resumption of construction activities, one hundred SSU commandos, in close coordination with the district police, have further strengthened security arrangements at all highly sensitive and vulnerable points of the bridge site.
The deployment has been restructured in line with the revised security assessment to ensure foolproof protection of engineers, labourers, machinery, and other personnel engaged in the project. The construction area continues to be divided into multiple security zones based on threat perception.
SSU commandos have been deployed at the most critical locations to ensure a swift, effective, and timely response to any potential threat or suspicious activity. DIG Security & Emergency Services Division Dr Maqsood Ahmed said that while reviewing the renewed security plan, he directed SSU personnel to remain on high alert and ensure complete peace and order in the area.
He emphasized that no compromise would be made on the security of this vital infrastructure project and warned that miscreants or anti-peace elements would be dealt with strictly in accordance with the law. SSU commandos will remain permanently deployed at the Kashmore-Ghotki Bridge construction site until the successful completion of the project.
