Pakistan and China have completed 75 years of friendship, which is often described as deeper than the sea, higher than the Himalayas, and sweeter than honey.

Sindh Senior Minister for Information and Transport Sharjeel Inam Memon made this remark as he spoke at the Sindh Assembly session on Friday.

He said both the nations had stood by each other during difficult times. China was Pakistan’s brother and neighbour, and in every trial, China had supported Pakistan, just as Pakistan had supported China, he added.

He said the relations between Pakistan and China grew stronger during the rule of Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) founder Zulfikar Ali Bhutto, his daughter Benazir Bhutto, or President Asif Ali Zardari.

Bhutto realised the geographical importance of Pak-China relations, Memon said.

He stated that when Zardari was first elected as the president, most of his foreign visits were to China, and in recent years, he had visited China three times.

The information minister said PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari had also consistently emphasised the promotion of Pak-China friendship. He added that Pak-China friendship was important not only for the region but for the entire world.

Memon said the foundation of CPEC was also laid during Zardari’s presidential tenure.

Pakistan had always sought to maintain cordial relations with all neighbouring countries and President Zardari took the important step of introducing the Chinese language into basic education, recognising its importance for trade interests and for strengthening people-to-people contacts between the two countries, the information minister said.
