MINGORA: The district judiciary of Swat has formally inaugurated a Psychological Services Facilitation Centre for Family and Gender-Based Violence (GBV) courts along with a double-docket (Evening) Court, aimed at improving access to justice and expediting case disposal.
The ceremony was presided over by Justice Dr Khurshid Iqbal of the Peshawar High Court, Mingora Bench. The event was attended by District and Sessions Judge Asad Hamid Khan, judicial officers, prosecutors, the district attorney, district police officer Swat, jail superintendent, bar association representatives, tehsil bar presidents and professional psychologists.
Addressing the gathering, Justice Dr Khurshid Iqbal said that ensuring easy access to justice for citizens was a pressing need in line with the vision of Chief Justice Justice S M Attique Shah. He termed the establishment of the Double-Docket (Evening) Court a significant step toward timely and effective justice delivery. He also appreciated the establishment of the Psychological Services Facilitation Centre, stressing the need for further improvement and research in the initiative, and reaffirmed the judiciary’s commitment to reforms aimed at making the justice system more efficient, accessible and affordable for the public.
