Ramazan is a sacred month for Muslims worldwide and serves as a true symbol of honesty, forgiveness and politeness. Fasting is not merely about hunger; it is a discipline for the body and a reminder to empathise with those in need. Unfortunately, many tend to neglect the principles of this month. Some give short measures, charge excessive prices or earn undue profits. Stockpiling food before Ramadan often drives prices even higher, which affects ordinary citizens. Such practices contradict the spirit of this holy month.
The essence of Ramazan lies in simple but meaningful acts: rising early for Sehri, exercising patience and tolerance, offering prayers and reciting the Holy Quran. These practices bring peace to the mind and heart while nurturing moral and social responsibility. We should, therefore, welcome Ramazan not only as a pious act of worship but also as an opportunity to correct our mistakes, uphold honesty and fulfil our responsibilities in daily life.
