KARACHI: Yango Pakistan has partnered with NOWPDP to launch ‘Ba-Ikhtiyar Pakistan’, an initiative aimed at creating livelihood opportunities for persons with disabilities through a digital ride-hailing platform.
The programme was inaugurated at the NOWPDP Centre of Excellence for Disability Inclusion in Karachi by Sindh’s Provincial Minister for Labour and Human Resources Saeed Ghani.In its first phase, five retrofitted rickshaws have been handed over to selected participants, enabling them to earn through the platform. Organisers said the fleet would be expanded in later stages to include more beneficiaries.
The initiative focuses on reducing employment barriers and promoting financial independence for people with disabilities by integrating them into app-based mobility services. Officials from both organisations emphasised the importance of public-private collaboration in building inclusive economic opportunities.
