KARACHI: Nestle Pakistan has inaugurated a nutrition awareness room at Islamabad Model College for Boys, Chak Shahzad in collaboration with the Federal Directorate of Education (FDE), marking the 20th such facility established under its school outreach initiative, stated a statement on Wednesday.
Officials said the programme aims to promote healthy eating habits and basic nutrition education among students. Under the partnership, three additional rooms will be set up and about 350 teachers trained over the next two years, targeting around 15,000 students.
Earlier, a three-day training session was held at the National Special Education Centre for 45 teachers and professionals from the Directorate General of Special Education to support classroom delivery of nutrition awareness.
Education Secretary Nadeem Mahbub said structured initiatives were needed to build informed dietary habits among schoolchildren and noted the government’s support for expanding such programmes within the federal education system.
Teaching materials for the initiative were developed with Oxford University Press, while related sustainability sessions for children were conducted in partnership with World Wide Fund for Nature.
