RAWALPINDI. The Special Anti-Terrorism Court of Rawalpindi has adjourned the hearing of the GHQ attack case against former PTI chairman Imran Khan, former foreign minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi and other accused till March 3 without taking any action.
It once again rejected an application for exemption from appearance of Aleema Khanum, the sister of Imran Khan, in the November 26 protest case and issued non-bailable arrest warrants for her for the 12th time. It summoned the last two prosecution witnesses for further action and adjourned the hearing till Wednesday.
During the hearing of the GHQ attack case against more than 120 accused including Imran Khan, Shireen Mazari and Azam Swati, former ministers and assembly members, the former PTI chairman could not be produced through video link, on which the court adjourned the hearing till March 3.
Aleema’s lawyer filed an application for exemption from attendance, stating that since today is the day the petitioner is to meet the former chairman in jail, she cannot appear. The court rejected the application and summoned the two last prosecution witnesses, the investigation officers.
In another case, a division bench of the Lahore High Court Rawalpindi comprising Justice Sadaqat Ali Khan and Justice Tariq Mahmood Bajwa acquitted the accused in a case of murdering his two minor daughters and injuring two people including his wife. The court declared the decision of a subordinate court null and void.
On July 15, 2024, the RA Bazaar police had registered a case under Sections 302, 324, 109 of the Pakistan Penal Code on the complaint of maternal uncles of the deceased girls, alleging that Usman Anwar, over a domestic dispute, slit the throats of his daughters, 12-year-old Anush Usman and 3-year-old Laraib, while injuring his wife Ayesha Bibi.
