A large rally was organised in Karachi by Millat-e-Jafaria Pakistan to protest the tragic incident at the Khadijatul Kubra mosque in Islamabad, and to express solidarity with Iran’s Grand Ayatollah Seyyed Imam Ali Khamenei.
The rally marched from Numaish Chowrangi to Sea Breeze on MA Jinnah Road, with thousands of men and women in attendance.
Addressing the gathering, Allama Nazir Abbas Taqvi demanded the immediate arrest of those involved in the mosque attack, including the facilitators, and called for a transparent investigation to bring the facts before the nation.
He said incidents of terrorism in the country are intolerable, and emphasised that it is the responsibility of state institutions to ensure the protection of citizens’ lives and properties at all costs.
He censured the threats made by the US president against the Ayatollah, describing the latter as a symbol of unity for the Muslim world, and warned that any aggression or provocation against him can have serious consequences for regional peace.
Majlis Wahdat-e-Muslimeen (MWM) Pakistan Central General Secretary Allama Hassan Zafar Naqvi said Pakistan and Iran are brotherly Islamic countries with historic, religious and strategic ties.
He said that any aggression against Iran would be considered an act against regional peace. He claimed that global powers are promoting instability in the region and sponsoring subversive activities against Pakistan.
He pointed out that both Pakistan and Iran are nuclear-capable states, and that conspiracies against them are attempts to disturb the balance of power in the region.
MWM leader Allama Hayat Abbas Najafi said that increasing tensions in the Middle East and any attempt by the US to impose war on Iran would have serious and far-reaching consequences.
He termed the so-called Board of Peace and plans related to Gaza a conspiracy, saying that the use of diplomatic pressure under the guise of a peace plan can further destabilise the region. He said attempts to establish peace through force have historically produced the opposite effect, leading to hatred, instability and resistance.
He also stressed that Iran is a sovereign state, and that interference in its internal or external affairs is contrary to international law and the United Nations Charter.
He expressed complete solidarity with the Supreme Leader of Iran and the people of the country, describing him as a hero of the Muslim Ummah.
He said the Iranian leadership has consistently taken a courageous stance in defence of national sovereignty and regional stability, which, he added, is a source of pride for Muslims worldwide.
He warned that any aggression by the US or its allies against Iran would not remain confined to one country but can destabilise the entire Middle East. He accused the US of attempting to push the region toward turmoil in order to safeguard the interests of Israel.
Calling on the international community to abandon double standards, he urged immediate steps to reduce tensions, initiate meaningful dialogue and prevent the region from descending into war. He said that sustainable peace can only be achieved through mutual respect, recognition of sovereignty and diplomacy based on justice.
Other speakers, including Allama Sahibzada Abu Al-Khair, Maulana Asadullah Bhutto and Allama Nisar Ahmed Qalandari, along with scholars from different schools of thought and representatives of minority communities, stressed the need to expose the elements behind recent acts of terrorism in Islamabad.
They called for national unity and solidarity, saying that Pakistan cannot afford further instability and terrorism, and urged law enforcement agencies to fulfil their responsibilities.
Regarding the Gaza situation and broader foreign policy issues, the speakers emphasised that Pakistan should formulate its foreign policy in line with national interests and the broader interests of the Muslim Ummah.
They expressed solidarity with the Palestinian people and resistance groups, urging policymakers to seriously review the prevailing situation. The rally’s participants carried banners and placards condemning the Islamabad incident and demanding justice.
