Immigration authorities of the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) at Jinnah International Airport, Karachi, intercepted a Pakistani passenger attempting to travel to Thailand on a visit visa under suspicious circumstances.

The suspect, identified as Wajid Ali, was initially sent to the Head Muharrir for detailed investigation and profiling. Preliminary investigation revealed that the passenger had previously been offloaded on February 14, 2026, due to insufficient funds, unverified travel purpose, and unpaid hotel bookings.

On his second attempt, the passenger presented a hotel booking and a return ticket; however, mobile phone checks revealed communications about his intentions to travel to South Korea.

During the luggage inspection, a South Korean visa issued on January 20, 2026, and valid until April 20, 2026, was also found. The suspect admitted to coordinating with an agent named Bashir from an agency, World Global Talent, and signing a contract worth Rs2.8 million. An advance payment of Rs300,000 had been made, and the remaining amount was to be paid upon reaching South Korea.

The passenger intended to stay one day in Thailand before proceeding to South Korea, according to travel schedules retrieved from his phone. Further investigation revealed that the trip was part of a plan to seek political asylum in South Korea using forged documents, facilitated by agents. Chat records indicated a broader network of agents involved in issuing boarding passes and enabling travel, suggesting organised human trafficking activity.

All payments were made in cash, and the travel routes were found to be unusual and suspicious. Due to the findings, the passenger was offloaded and handed over to the Anti-Human Trafficking Circle, Karachi, for legal action and investigation.
