A major theft was reported at a jeweller’s shop in Ganchi Market, Malir City where unidentified suspects broke the locks and fled with a safe containing gold and cash.
According to police, the incident occurred during the night between Thursday and Friday. The shop owner, identified as Iqbal, discovered the theft in the morning and informed authorities.
The police said the stolen safe contained over half a kilogram of gold and Rs500,000 in cash. The value of the stolen gold was estimated at approximately Rs27.5 million.
The Crime Scene Unit was called to collect evidence from the site, while the police took three market watchmen into custody for questioning and launched an investigation.
The incident came days after a similar burglary in Korangi Area Market, within the limits of Awami Colony Police Station, where jewellery worth millions of rupees was stolen from four shops. Police investigators were examining possible links between the two incidents. Further investigation is underway
