Man kills two brothers over Rs5,000 dispute; two man killed over personal enmity

Four people, including two brothers, were killed and a woman was injured in separate firing incidents reported in the city on Wednesday.

In Keamari’s Shireen Jinnah Colony, a man allegedly shot dead his two cousins over a dispute involving Rs5,000. The Jackson police and rescue teams shifted the bodies to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre. The deceased were identified as 20-year-old Kamran, son of Mumtaz Khan, and 24-year-old Sartaj, also son of Mumtaz Khan.

SHO Mithal Shar said the incident stemmed from a personal dispute. The victims were allegedly shot by their cousin, Jafar, during a quarrel over a financial transaction of Rs5,000. A jirga was reportedly being held to settle the matter when an argument broke out and the suspect opened fire, killing both brothers on the spot. The police detained two suspects and recovered the weapon used in the crime.

Speaking to the media at the hospital, the victims’ father said the dispute involved his sister’s son, Jafar, who is also his son-in-law. He claimed the families had reconciled and that he had offered to pay the Rs5,000, but tensions persisted.

“My sons were sitting outside the house when Jafar arrived with his companions and opened fire,” he said, demanding immediate arrest of all those involved and justice for his sons.

In a separate incident late Wednesday night, two men were killed and a woman injured in firing near Super Highway, Lucky Cement area, within the limits of Memon Goth police station.

According to SSP Malir Abdul Khaliq, the attack appeaed to be the result of personal enmity. The victims were travelling together when two unidentified motorcyclists opened fire on them and fled the scene. The injured were shifted to hospital, where two men succumbed to their injuries.

The deceased were identified as 45-year-old Ghulam Haider, son of Muhammad Aslam, and 25-year-old Saifullah, son of Nawab. The injured woman, 21-year-old Neha, daughter of Shahzad, is receiving treatment.

The police said the woman stated in her initial statement that two unknown motorcyclists carried out the attack. Investigators recovered 9mm pistol shells, two motorcycles and liquor bottles from the scene. Evidence had been collected and further investigation was underway.
