HYDERABAD: A former Mirpurkhas senior superintendent of police (SSP) nominated in Dr Shah Nawaz murder case has obtained a two-day protective bail after appearing before an anti-terrorism court (ATC) in Mirpurkhas.
Former SSP Asad Ali Chaudhry, who had earlier been declared a proclaimed offender in the case, surrendered before the ATC and secured interim protective bail for two days. After being nominated as an accused in the high-profile murder case, he had gone into hiding.
During his absence, the court had declared him a proclaimed offender and ordered the confiscation of his property. Police reportedly failed to arrest him for over a year. However, in a sudden development, Chaudhry appeared before the Mirpurkhas ATC and succeeded in obtaining protective bail for two days. Meanwhile, a former Mirpurkhas DIG, who is also linked with the case, remains an absconder.
