ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Single Window (PSW), the country’s trade facilitation platform, has powered the launch of a real-time electronic customs data exchange between Pakistan and Uzbekistan, a step officials say will speed up border clearances, sharpen risk assessments and strengthen digital trade links between South and Central Asia.

Pakistan Customs and the State Customs Committee of Uzbekistan operationalised the data-sharing system on January 22, 2026, following a Memorandum of Understanding signed between the two administrations, according to a statement issued on Tuesday.

The PSW played a central role in upgrading the WeBOC customs system to enable officers to access and use the exchanged information in real time. The enhancements have streamlined the processing of customs declarations and reduced consignment dwell times at border stations, officials said.

The arrangement is the first in a planned series of similar data-sharing agreements with regional partners, signalling Pakistan’s push to modernise border management and integrate more closely with its neighbours.

The initiative aligns with Pakistan’s objectives under the Central Asia Regional Economic Cooperation (CAREC) Programme, particularly its focus on trade facilitation, closer customs cooperation and improved digital connectivity across the region.

Officials described the Pakistan-Uzbekistan link as a milestone in building digital trade corridors between South Asia and Central Asia, helping to cut transaction costs and improve supply chain efficiency.
