IGP Odho takes notice of IO’s resignation over ‘stumbling blocks’

A police inspector due to “ill behavior” has submitted his resignation from the police service, and Sindh police chief Javed Alam Odho has taken notice and sought details from Karachi’s additional IG.

Officials said Sindh IGP Javed Alam Odho has taken notice of the news regarding the resignation of Investigation Inspector Ibrahim Hyderi, Fareed Khan circulating on social media. He has ordered Additional IG Karachi Azad Khan to conduct a comprehensive investigation into the authenticity of reports of the resignation and the contents stated and submit a report and to meet the inspector to address his legitimate concerns.

The resignation letter submitted by Inspector Fareed Khan to police high-ups reads, “It is with profound regret and a heavy heart that I submit my resignation as Inspector, Sindh Police effective. The Police department appointed me as Inspector investigation to investigate the cases on basis of merit, transparency and honesty in order to maintain balance and justice in society unfortunately investigation officer faces multiple challenges as he starts up the investigation of FIRs notably lack of resources, interference and ill- behaviour.

“In fact, Investigation Officer is the prime and paramount pillar of the building of investigation and all other tiers are placed to support and speed up but here the fact is reverse. Every tier tries its best to humiliate, dishearten and Investigation Officer even for petty interests of theirs. Despite I/O manages the situation in face of difficulties and hardships especially when it comes to get files signed the high-ups and seniors become a stumbling block and threaten as well as harass in the name of show cause Notices, Misconduct Major-Minor punishments and dismissal from the service in order to get their vested interests and ulterior motives served.”

The letter further says: “In the context of law, I/O is free and open to submit the reports 173 CrPC by getting approval from Station House Officer and Senior investigation officer and prosecution. There is no bar in the procedure. Recently, I being Incharge of investigation was prescribed by the high-ups of East Zone in the submission of report 173 CrPC as a challan in a case where as the fair investigation stands as “B Class” this is just a tip of ice berg. The high-ups curtail the power of I/O and clip the wings of I/O in order to serve their motives. The claiming I/O is appointed free but he is in chains everywhere. Therefore, looking at the gloomy picture of, I tender my services, which may kindly be accepted.”
