QUETTA : Pakistan Railways has resumed the Jaffar Express service from Quetta to Peshawar after a five-day suspension, marking a gradual restoration of train operations in Balochistan following recent security concerns.

Railway officials said the Jaffar Express departed Quetta for Peshawar on Wednesday, while passenger train services to Chaman have also been restored after remaining suspended for five days, with the train already leaving for its destination.

However, officials added that the Bolan Mail operating between Karachi and Quetta will remain cancelled until February 12. According to railway authorities, all inter-provincial train services from Balochistan had been suspended since January 31 due to incidents of unrest across the province. The partial resumption of services comes as authorities continue efforts to normalize transportation and public movement. Railway officials said further decisions regarding the restoration of remaining routes will be taken in line with the evolving security situation.
