Germany stands with Pakistan in fight against cancer: envoy

LAHORE:German Ambassador to Pakistan, Ina Lepel visited Shaukat Khanum Memorial Cancer Hospital (SKMCH) on World Cancer Day on Wednesday.

Dr Aasim Yusuf, Chief Medical Officer, gave an overview of the hospital and guided the tour. Dr Usman Rashid, Senior Scientist in Basic Sciences Research, briefed her on breast cancer research efforts.

Ambassador Lepel said that each person affected by cancer has unique history and needs a journey to beat this disease. “Nobody can fight it alone, we have to be united and Germany stands with Pakistan on this journey”.

She said that she is very inspired by the dedication, the skill, and the innovation of the Shaukat Khanum Hospital health experts. “I would also like to say that for research, it is so important to have international cooperation. I wish everyone living with cancer and everyone working on fighting cancer the best of success for this important work.”Ambassador Lepel visited different areas of the hospital.Shaukat Khanum Hospital CMO thanked envoy for her words of encouragement.
