Rawalpindi: Water and Sanitation Agency (WASA) Rawalpindi has formed special teams to identify open manholes across the city, according to WASA spokesperson Umar Farooq.

On the instructions of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, WASA Rawalpindi, like other districts across the province, has started immediate steps to prevent any untoward incident due to open manholes within its limits.

MD WASA Rawalpindi has also appealed to all citizens to immediately inform WASA Rawalpindi of any open or broken manhole around them so that timely action can be taken. According to the spokesperson, WASA Rawalpindi is always working together with the district administration to protect the lives and property of the people and this campaign can be made effective with the cooperation of the citizens.

A focal person has been nominated by the district administration in this regard and a phone number 03219477240 has been issued for the convenience of the public in case of any complaint.

Responsible citizens should identify any potential danger in a timely manner. Meanwhile, according to reports, dozens of manhole covers are missing in the inner city, including Dhok Babu Irfan, but the relevant institutions have not yet been able to identify them.

According to citizens, despite the Punjab Chief Minister's orders to the relevant institutions to cover manholes throughout the district, open manholes in the inner city can cause a major tragedy.
