HYDERABAD: Three officials of the Hyderabad police have been suspended in a case pertaining to abduction or illegal arrest of a businessman in Karachi.

On January 14, a businessman was allegedly picked up from Karachi’s Defence area in connection with an FIR registered at the A-Section police station, Hyderabad. Upon finding misuse of authority in the FIR registration, Establishment DIG Parvez Ahmed Chandio suspended three officials of the Hyderabad Police.

The suspended officials include ASI Mirza Rashid Baig, Constable Muhammad Shahid Ali and Constable Waqas Khan. It is noteworthy that in the abduction case, Karachi Traffic DIG Pir Muhammad Shah has also been removed from his post, and Sindh Inspector General of Police Javed Alam Odho has sought an explanation from him over the matter.

It is being said that ASI Baig played a key role in the FIR No 506/2025, which was registered against the businessman at the A-Section Police Station, Hyderabad. According to sources, the FIR was registered on the orders of a senior officer.

After he was recovered, the businessman registered an abduction case under the Section 365-A at the Gizri police station in Karachi. In his FIR, he stated that at around 7pm, while he was traveling from his office in DHA Phase 2 to his home in Khayaban-e-Ameer Khusro Phase VI, a white-coloured vehicle bearing the registration number BEB-567 intercepted him, following which he was manhandled and abducted.
