At least four people, including two children and a woman, were killed, while three others were injured in separate accidents on Friday.
Within the jurisdiction of the Sharafi Goth police station, a motorcycle accident claimed the life of a woman, while three others were injured and shifted to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC). The deceased was identified as 45-year-old Shabana, wife of Saleem Ahmed. The injured were identified as 50-year-old Saleem Ahmed, son of Saghir Ahmed; 20-year-old Noman, son of Ilyas; and 20-year-old Shehzaar, son of Zakir. The police said preliminary reports indicated that the accident occurred due to a collision between two motorcycles.
An eight-year-old boy sustained critical injuries after being hit by a speeding passenger coach near Afghan Camp Basti on the Northern Bypass, within the jurisdiction of the Gulshan-e-Maymar police station. He later died during treatment at the JPMC. The deceased was identified as Sufyan, son of Saif-ur-Rehman. The police said the driver responsible for the accident has been arrested.
Separately, a 15-year-old boy was killed after being struck by a train on a railway track near Murghi Khana Pul in the Quaidabad area. The victim’s identity could not be immediately confirmed.
In yet another accident, a worker was killed after being caught in machinery while working at a private company near 4 Number Floor Mill in Korangi, within the jurisdiction of the Awami Colony police station. The deceased was identified as 24-year-old Falak Sher, son of Ramzan. His body was shifted to the JPMC.
Meanwhile, the family killed in a traffic accident late Thursday night near Gate No. 17, Ghaus Bandar, within the jurisdiction of the Dock police station, had been identified. The deceased include 30-year-old Sikandar, son of Abdul Qadir; 33-year-old Sakina, daughter of Abdul Ghani; and their three-year-old son, Qaziyan. The family were residents of Ranchore Line. Sikandar worked at a garments shop in Kareem Center, Saddar.
The police said the accident occurred when Sikandar’s motorcycle collided with a speeding unknown vehicle coming from the opposite direction. Funeral prayers for the deceased family were offered at a local mosque in Ranchore Line and were attended by relatives and local residents. The bodies were later laid to rest in the local cemetery amid scenes of grief and mourning.
