A man was shot dead by unknown armed assailants at a flour mill in Ibrahim Hyderi, police said on Friday. According to the police, the incident occurred near the football ground in Sufiyani Mohalla, within the jurisdiction of the Ibrahim Hyderi police station. The victim, who was employed at the flour mill, was identified as 60-year-old Naseer Khan, son of Dhani Bakhsh.

His body was shifted to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Center for medico-legal formalities. The police said the victim was not robbed, as his money and mobile phone were found intact. Preliminary investigations suggested the killing might have been the result of a personal dispute. The police added that the victim had reportedly been involved in an altercation with unknown individuals two to three days prior to the incident.

Investigators had collected evidence from the crime scene and were probing the case from multiple angles.

Fire

A fire broke out at a helmet warehouse near Shafiq Mor in New Karachi on Friday, prompting an immediate response from rescue and fire services. According to Rescue 1122, the Central Command and Control received a report of the blaze, after which fire and rescue teams, along with ambulances and two fire brigade trucks, were dispatched to the site. Two additional fire tenders from the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation Fire Brigade also arrived to assist in firefighting operations.

Rescue officials evacuated people from inside and around the building as a precautionary measure. With the support of four fire tenders, authorities were able to bring the fire under control.

The warehouse reportedly stored a large number of motorcycle helmets, many of which were damaged in the blaze. The extent of the financial loss had not yet been assessed. Fortunately, no casualties were reported. Fire Brigade officials said the presence of plastic and thermocol material in the warehouse caused the fire to spread rapidly; however, timely intervention by fire and rescue teams prevented the situation from worsening. The cause of the fire remained unknown.
