Arrest warrants for witnesses in girl torture case

ISLAMABAD: In the case of Rizwana, a minor domestic worker who had been tortured at a judge’s house, the trial court has issued non-bailable arrest warrants for several witnesses for their continued non-appearance.

The court ordered the witnesses to be arrested and produced in court at the next hearing. The case of torture on Rizwana was heard by Judicial Magistrate Mubashir Hassan Chishti. The plaintiff’s lawyer, Sharafat, withdrew his power of attorney, while lawyer Shahid Hussain Jasra submitted the power of attorney on behalf of the plaintiff who did not appear. The court adjourned the hearing till February 7.The case had been registered against the accused, Soumya Asim, in the Hamak Police Station.
