RAWALPINDI. A Special Anti-Terrorism Court of Rawalpindi on Wednesday accepted the application for exemption from appearance of Aleema Khanum, the sister of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan, nominated in the November 26 protest case by the Sadiqabad police station.

The court also linked the action on the application for restoration of the frozen bank account and identity card of Aleema Khanum to the next hearing. The court ruled that if Aleema Khanum appears in the next hearing, her bank account and identity card will be restored.

Khanum’s lawyer and special prosecutor were present in the court during the hearing against 11 suspects, including Aleema Khanum. However, Aleema Khanum did not appear in court, on which her lawyer filed plea for exemption from appearance, which the court approved.

Later, the court adjourned the proceedings until February 2.
