HANGU: Member National Assembly from Hangu and Orakzai tribal districts Yousaf Khan on Sunday alleged that the public mandate was “stolen” during the general elections held on February 8, 2024.
“We will observe Black Day across Pakistan and Kashmir against the massive rigging in general elections on February 8,” he said while talking to reporters here.He said preparations for the Black Day were underway and questioned the credibility of elections conducted in such a manner.
He asked why billions of rupees were spent on elections if the public’s vote was not respected.He appealed to people to shut down transport and businesses on February 8, urging citizens to make a one-day sacrifice for their future.
He also called on all political parties and the traders’ community to remain united.Expressing concern over ongoing security operations, the MNA said that despite repeated operations, lasting peace could not be guaranteed.
He said that thousands of operations had been carried out in the past without yielding the desired results, adding that people were being forced out of their homes even during severe snowfall.
Highlighting development initiatives, Yousaf Khan said work was underway on the Hangu-Sarozai road and the upgradation of the District Headquarters Hospital to Category-B status at a cost of Rs12 billion. He added that projects to resolve the water shortage and establish a university would begin soon.
“Development schemes worth over Rs2 billion are being launched in Hangu under the royalty head, work is ongoing on the Zera-Dabori road, and a standard hospital would be established in Dabori,” he pledged.
He also announced a tunnel project from Peshawar to Orakzai, which would reduce travel time to just 45 minutes.The MNA said that the development of Hangu and Orakzai would only be possible by moving forward with the support of the media and the people.
