Acting on an intelligence-based information, the Sindh Rangers have arrested four suspected robbers involved in multiple cases of robbery and street crime during an operation carried out in the Jogi Mor area of Malir.
According to a spokesperson for the paramilitary force, the arrested men were identified as Ghulam Abbas, alias Kala, Irfan, alias Arshad, alias Raju, Mehran, and Ali Raza. Three 30-bore pistols without licences along with ammunition, 49 snatched mobile phones and cash were recovered from their possession.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the suspects were part of an organised gang involved in armed mobile phone snatching and the theft of 70 to 80 motorcycles in various areas of Karachi, including Model Colony, Saudabad, Quaidabad and Gulshan-e-Hadeed. The suspects could also be clearly seen in CCTV footage of such crimes.
The suspects reportedly told the investigators that on January 13, 2026, they snatched Rs300,000 at gunpoint from a citizen who had withdrawn cash from a bank on Ravinda Road, National Highway, and also opened fire on the victim’s vehicle when he offered resistance.
The arrested suspects, along with the recovered weapons, ammunition and stolen items, were handed over to the police for the initiation of legal proceedings.
