ISLAMABAD: Pakistan women’s futsal team achieved their first-ever international victory, defeating Sri Lanka 3–2 in the South Asian Football Federation (SAFF) Women’s Futsal Championship 2026, currently underway in Thailand.

The closely contested match remained evenly poised at 1–1 at halftime. Pakistan sealed the memorable win with a decisive goal in the dying moments of the second half, displaying remarkable determination and composure under pressure.

The victory was powered by a sensational hat-trick from Azwa Chaudhry, whose clinical finishing proved decisive against a determined Sri Lankan side. Her outstanding performance not only sealed the win but also marked a historic milestone, as it was Pakistan’s maiden victory in the SAFF Women’s Futsal Championship. Meanwhile, Pakistan came from behind to beat Bhutan 4-2 in the men’s event. Pakistan were trailing 2-0 but came back strongly to beat Bhutan 4-2.
