LAHORE: The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Mohsin Naqvi held a significant meeting with the selection committee in Lahore, underscoring his commitment to merit-based decision-making and transparency in cricket governance.

During the meeting, Naqvi advised the selectors to exercise a completely “free hand” in their duties, stressing that all choices must be made with honesty and integrity, free from external influence. He urged them to disregard “criticism for the sake of criticism” and remain focused on their objectives, assuring them of his full support in the process.

The selection committee — comprising Misbah-ul-Haq, Sarfaraz Ahmed, Asad Shafiq, and Aqib Javed — expressed gratitude for the Chairman’s confidence. They reaffirmed their dedication to Pakistan cricket’s development, highlighting their shared vision of strengthening the national team through fair and merit-driven selections.

“This meeting reflects a broader effort by the PCB leadership to instill professionalism and accountability in cricket administration, ensuring that players are chosen on performance and potential rather than external pressures. It marks a step toward reinforcing trust in the selection process and aligning Pakistan cricket with global standards of governance,” said a PCB official.
