ISLAMABAD: The Tehreek Tahaffuz Aiyeen-e-Pakistan (TTAP) on Wednesday demanded the government hold a joint session of parliament on the deteriorating situation in the region, especially the crisis in the Middle East and formulate a national policy.

“The international order after World War II is in decline. While Israeli aggression and the genocide of Palestinian Muslims and the United States’ behaviour in Latin America have shattered international laws, the United Nations has also become meaningless,” TTAP noted in its meeting held here on Wednesday, chaired by Mahmood Khan Achakzai.

This is the first meeting of the opposition alliance, following their three-day street mobilisation in Lahore, which ended on Saturday last. According to Akhunzada Hussain, who is the spokesman of the opposition alliance, the meeting pointed out that in such a worrying situation, the government should call an immediate joint session of parliament on foreign policy and the emerging crisis situation and formulate a national policy through collective wisdom.

“Imperialist and colonialist forces are also tightening the siege against the neighbouring brotherly Islamic country of Iran and an environment is being created through the Western media on the basis of which the sovereignty of Iran can be attacked,” the forum expressed concern. It was emphasized that in the given situation, there was serious concern among the Pakistani people and the opposition alliance that suggests that the government, keeping in mind the seriousness of this possible crisis situation and its impact on the region, call a meeting of neighbouring countries so that a joint plan of action could be formulated.

The meeting was attended by Senator Allama Raja Nasir Abbas Jafri, who is vice chairman of the opposition alliance and head of Majlis Wahdatul Muslimeen, Asad Qaiser, TTAP secretary general and former speaker of National Assembly, Salman Akram Raja, secretary general of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf, Mustafa Nawaz Khokhar, vice chairman of the opposition alliance, Akhunzada Hussain Ahmed Yousafzai, its spokesman, Khalid Yousaf Chaudhry who is the lawyer of the chairman of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf.
