One fisherman drowned while six other were rescued on Wednesday after their boat capsized near Keti Bandar while they were out for hunting birds. Search is under way for another fisherman who could not be rescued.
According to initial reports, the fishermen had sailed from Karachi to the area for recreational hunting. Rough sea and adverse weather caused the boat to overturn. Local fishermen quickly responded to the incident, rescuing six people alive. However, two individuals remained missing.
Maritime security authorities said search and rescue operations were conducted at the site. During the search operation, the body of one of the two fishermen, identified as Zaheer Ahmed, 34, son of Ahmed Din, was recovered and transferred to a hospital nearby via an Edhi ambulance. He was a resident of Keti Bandar.
Efforts to locate the second missing fisherman, Wahid Bakhsh, are under way. Officials stated that of the eight fishermen, five were from Karachi, while three were locals from Keti Bandar. The capsized boat was also recovered during the rescue operation. Authorities believe that the accident was caused by high winds and rough sea conditions.
