No gas, no response

Karachi is witnessing a gas crisis that has moved far beyond routine winter loadshedding. In several localities residents have been enduring acute gas shortages even during daytime for many consecutive days. The situation has become so severe that households are unable to prepare even basic necessities such as tea or hot water. What is most alarming is not only the shortage itself but the complete breakdown of responsiveness. Residents have repeatedly attempted to reach out to helplines, mega centres and even area-specific complaint numbers, only to find that calls go unanswered for days. When the complaint system itself becomes inaccessible, citizens are left with no recourse and no accountability. Karachi’s residents are not asking for luxury or uninterrupted supply. They are asking for honesty, responsiveness and basic functionality. Transparent communication and firm action against illegal gas usage would at least restore a measure of trust.
