Rawalpindi : Provincial Minister for Housing Bilal Yasin announced the expansion of Rawalpindi-Murree Road, 4 new parking plazas and double road underpass, establishment of Murree WASA and a new ‘water van’ for free supply of clean drinking water to tourists.
He made this announcement during his visit to Rawalpindi and Murree. On this occasion, the provincial minister visited the Ring Road Project Banth Interchange and later chaired a meeting at RDA where DG RDA Kanza Murtaza, while giving a briefing on the current progress of RDA's ongoing projects and future projects, said that in addition to the ongoing and new projects, Ring Road Rawalpindi, Murree Road expansion, construction of underpass at the end of the double road, 4 parking plazas will also be built in Rawalpindi, of which it has been decided to build 2 parking plazas near the courthouse and 2 parking plazas at Jinnah Road Raja Bazaar.
He said that 78 per cent of the work of the Ring Road project has been completed and it will be fully functional by the end of March this year. Appreciating the performance of RDA, he issued clear instructions to all the relevant teams for the timely and effective completion of the project. He said that after the completion of this project, it will provide an important link connecting different parts of the city. Later, during his visit to Murree, the provincial minister announced the establishment of WASA in Murree and a mobile water van for free provision of clean drinking water to tourists. While announcing the establishment of WASA, he said that according to the vision of the Chief Minister of Punjab, providing quality basic facilities to citizens and tourists is the top priority of the Punjab government. He also announced the establishment of a mobile water van for free provision of drinking water to tourists.
The provincial minister inaugurated the WASA Murree office on this occasion so that the provision of clean drinking water and drainage system in Murree can be developed on modern lines. He said that the establishment of WASA Murree will significantly improve urban facilities and the service delivery system will be more effective. During the visit, the provincial minister took a detailed briefing from the officers of PHA Murree and Public Health Engineering Department on the ongoing and proposed development projects in Murree.
On this occasion, MNA Raja Osama Ashfaq Sarwar, Director General Punjab WASA Tayyab Farid, Additional Commissioner Revenue Omar Kiani and Managing Director PHA Ahmed Hassan Ranjha were also present.
Managing Director WASA Murree Azeem Shaukat Awan said in the briefing that the establishment of WASA Murree will provide clean drinking water to the citizens and bring lasting improvement in the drainage system. He gave a detailed briefing regarding the ongoing and upcoming projects in Murree. The provincial minister directed that all projects in Murree be completed on priority basis and all possible facilities be provided to the citizens and tourists.
