ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Tennis Federation (PTF) has stepped up its preparations for the forthcoming Davis Cup tie against Senegal, scheduled to be played at the Pakistan Sports Complex, Islamabad, on 6–7 February 2026, by announcing a comprehensive national training camp aimed at building a strong and competitive squad.
The intensive training camp will be held at the Defence Club Grass Courts, Lahore, from 12 to 24 January, bringing together Pakistan’s top men’s and promising junior players. The initiative reflects PTF’s long-term vision of strengthening the national bench while ensuring the senior team is fully prepared for the crucial international assignment.
The camp will be conducted under the supervision of Rashid Malik, Pakistan’s Davis Cup captain, with an experienced coaching panel comprising Mushaf Zia, Muhammad Khalid, and Shahzad Khan. Focus will be placed on physical conditioning, technical refinement, match strategy, and adaptation to playing conditions, with special emphasis on doubles combinations, often a decisive factor in Davis Cup encounters.
Speaking on the occasion, PTF President Aisam-ul-Haq Qureshi termed the camp a vital milestone in Pakistan’s Davis Cup preparations.
“This training camp is an important step in building a strong and competitive national team for the forthcoming Davis Cup tie against Senegal. After the conclusion of the camp, the final team will be announced,” he said. Qureshi further highlighted the inclusion of junior players alongside senior professionals as a strategic move for the future. “We have invited top junior players to train alongside senior players so they can gain valuable experience. This exposure will be extremely beneficial for their development and for Pakistan tennis in the long run,” he added. With the Davis Cup tie being hosted on home soil, expectations are high that the blend of experience and youth, combined with structured preparation, will enable Pakistan to put up a strong performance against Senegal and continue its progress on the international tennis stage. The following players will take part in the training camp: Aisam-ul-Haq Qureshi, Aqeel Khan, Muzammil Murtaza
