LAHORE: A dramatic day of racing unfolded at the Lahore Race Club on Sunday, with fluke entry Brutus producing a stunning stretch run to clinch the featured Ravi Cup for three-year-olds. Trained by Rashid Latif, owned by Khawaja Atif, and ridden by Shahbaz Ali, Brutus upset the odds to beat favourite Princess Barcelona, while Queen of Pharoah slipped to third.

The 27th day of the winter meeting at Lahore Race Club was marked by upsets and surprises, with Brutus’s Ravi Cup triumph standing out as the headline.

The opening race saw an unexpected winner in Fakhar-e-Panjgran, owned by Aqeel Nasir and trained by M Shahzad. Tiger of Sultan surprised by finishing second, while Zaman Sahib claimed third place.

Favourite Safe Bet, owned by Kashif Raza Warriach, Zaheer Abbas Sani Warriach, and Mirza Riaz Anjum, and ridden by Abdullah Amir, lived up to expectations with a commanding win in the second race. Absolutely Not surprised with second place, while Largess finished third.

The third race saw a twist as a fluke contender Crown Pharoah, ridden by Safdar Ali and owned by Yaqoob Sheikh, trained by Zahid Khan, stormed to victory. Moni Prince secured second, while favourite New York City had to settle for third.

In the fourth race, Aspiring place contender Loud And Clear, owned by Malik Salman Khalid and Hamza Khalid, and ridden by Bilal, claimed victory. Decent Pari surprised with second, while fluke King Lady finished third.

The highlight of the day in the fifth race, the Ravi Cup, saw fluke Brutus shock the field with a powerful finish. Favourite Princess Barcelona was second, while Queen of Pharoah slipped to third.

Predicted place contender Pakiza in the sixth race, owned by Qudrat-ullah Sandhu, Ch Abuzar Sandhu, and Aqib Sandhu, trained by Rashid Latif and ridden by Safdar Ali, emerged victorious. Favourite Lord And Lion finished second, while Secret Lover claimed third. In the last race of the day, Rutba, owned by Hashim Dogar and ridden by Sunny Babu, secured victory. Asif Princess surprised with second place, while Gul-e-Jalal finished third.
