ISLAMABAD: China will train assistant superintendents of police (ASPs) through an intensive one-month training programme in Beijing.
Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi on Thursday visited the Beijing Police College where he inspected several high-tech training wings and witnessed a sophisticated tactical demonstration. He also operated an advanced driving simulator there.
A major outcome of the visit is the announcement of a formal partnership between the National Police Academy of Pakistan and Beijing Police College. Under this new initiative, all ASPs from the National Police Academy will be required to undergo an intensive one-month training programme in Beijing. This agreement aims to equip Pakistani officers with modern professional education, specifically focusing on the use of artificial intelligence and high-tech simulators to manage protests, violent incidents and organised crime.
Beijing Police College President Wu Wei briefed the Pakistani delegation on the institution. The high-level delegation accompanying the minister included Federal Interior Secretary Khurram Agha, National Police Academy DG Muhammad Idrees and other senior law enforcement officials.
