PESHAWAR: The Anti-Corruption Court of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Monday summoned an auditor of the Anti-Corruption Establishment to appear at the next hearing in a multi-million-rupee wheat scandal case.
The case was heard by Anti-Corruption Court Judge Asif Rasheed.During the proceedings, the statement of the inquiry officer, assistant director of Food, was recorded after which the court directed that the Anti-Corruption auditor be summoned at the next hearing.
According to the prosecution, charges have been framed against five accused in the wheat scandal, while one suspect was still at large.The accused were employees of a wheat storage godown in Azakhel, Nowshera.
They allegedly, in collusion, misappropriated 1,700 tonnes of wheat and more than 3,000 wheat bags, causing a loss of Rs196 million to the national exchequer.The court adjourned the hearing into the case until January 20.
