PESHAWAR: Academicians on Monday met to discuss the plans to ensure uniformity and standardization of BS and Associate Degree programmes across all universities and colleges in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa in line with the Higher Education Commission (HEC), Islamabad, guidelines.
The Quality Assurance Cell of the Higher Education Department (HED), Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, in collaboration with the Quality Enhancement Cell of the University of Peshawar, organized the joint meeting of all 52 conveners of curriculum review committees. Higher Education KP Secretary Muhammad Israr was the chief guest on the occasion.
Others present included University of Peshawar Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Johar Ali, University of Malakand Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Rashid Ahmed, University of Science and Technology Bannu Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Jehanzaib, University of Shangla Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Sardar Khan, Director IMSciences Peshawar Prof Dr Usman Ghani, University of Swat Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Hasan Sher, along with deans and faculty members from universities across KP who served as conveners for their respective subjects.
The meeting was also attended by members of the HED KP Core Committee on Curriculum. HED Director Quality Assurance Dr Imran Ullah Marwat welcomed the participants. Speaking on the occasion, Prof Dr Johar Ali highlighted the importance of uniformity and standardization for universities and colleges in KP.
HEC Islamabad Deputy Director (Academics) Hidayatullah Kasi gave a detailed presentation on the HEC Undergraduate Education Policy and the role of National Curriculum Review Committees.The higher education secretary praised the conveners for their efforts and assured full support of the KP government to streamline higher education through consultation and collaboration with academicians. Conveners were directed to submit their final drafts by January 10 for review by the HED Core Committee, followed by approval from the KP government.
