LAHORE:Renowned Islamic scholar and Patron-in-Chief of Jamia Ashrafia, Maulana Fazlur Rehman Ashrafi passed away here on Monday.
Maulana Fazlur Rehman Ashrafi was the Patron of Wafaq-ul-Madaris Al-Arabia Pakistan and a former Mohtamim of Jamia Ashrafia. He had students across Pakistan and abroad.His funeral prayer was offered after Zuhr prayers at Jamia Ashrafia, here. A large number of religious scholars, spiritual leaders, ministers, political and social figures attended the funeral.
Condolences were expressed by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Federal Minister Ahsan Iqbal, Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, former federal minister Khawaja Saad Rafique, JUI-F chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman, Jamaat-i-Islami Emir Hafiz Naeemur Rehman, other political and social leaders.
In his condolence message, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said that Maulana Fazlur Rehman Ashrafi had rendered notable services for the promotion of religious education. He added that the late scholar devoted his life to the teaching of the Quran and Sunnah, the promotion of religious values, and moral training, benefiting countless students and scholars.
