CHARSADDA: At least six persons, including a woman and three children, were killed and five others seriously injured when the roof of a room of a house collapsed during a wedding ceremony in the Matta area of Shabqadar tehsil, locals said on Sunday.
According to details, the tragic incident occurred in the Matta area of Shabqadar late at night while a wedding ceremony was going on at the affected house. Women and children were sleeping inside a room when its dilapidated roof suddenly caved in, burying them under the debris.
As a result, Maryam, 2, Zunisha, 2, Musaffa, 3, Saima, 13, Sania, 13, and Naida, 23, died on the spot while a woman named Daulat Bibi, 45, Naeema Bibi, 30, Aamna, 17, Yumna 13, and Hasba, 6, sustained serious injuries. Upon receiving information, local residents and Rescue 1122 personnel rushed to the spot and launched a rescue operation. They retrieved the bodies and rescued the injured from the rubble and shifted them to the Tehsil Headquarters Hospital.
