Sindh Senior Minister for Information and Transport Sharjeel Inam Memon has said that 2026 will prove to be a year of development, convenience and stability for Sindh.
He said the Sindh government had adopted a comprehensive strategy to ensure timely completion of ongoing and new development projects across the province. In a statement issued on Thursday, he said the government’s focus was on finding sustainable solutions to public issues, improving infrastructure and reducing the development gap between urban and rural areas.
In 2026, several projects related to roads, bridges, transport, health, education, water and drainage would take shape under the Annual Development Program (ADP), he said. He remarked that improving infrastructure in major cities of Sindh, including Karachi, was a top priority of the provincial government. Road rehabilitation, construction of bridges and underpasses, abd public transport projects were being completed at a rapid pace to reduce traffic pressure in the city, he said, adding that these projects would provide greater convenience and save citizens time.
He said the Sindh government was developing the public transport system along modern lines. Double-decker buses, EV buses and other new bus services along with safe travel facilities for women and environmentally friendly transport were part of these efforts, he maintained.
Memon said large-scale investments were also being made in the education and health sectors. The upgrading of schools and hospitals, establishment of new medical facilities, and enhancement of staff capacity were among the government’s priorities for 2026, he explained.
He said that several projects aimed at addressing water shortages and drainage issues would be completed or show significant progress in 2026. Improvements to canals, upgrading of drainage systems and measures to address environmental challenges were part of the government’s long-term vision, he added.
The senior minister said the Sindh government was ensuring transparency, speed and quality in all development projects. He added that the government wanted the people to see practical results rather than promises, and the citizens of Sindh would feel a meaningful change in 2026. He reaffirmed that the government remained committed to public welfare and this journey of development would continue with full momentum in the years to come.
