Additional Inspector General Karachi Azad Khan on Thursday inaugurated a modern command and control room equipped with 105 surveillance cameras at the Gulshan-e-Maymar police station in collaboration with Community Policing Karachi (CPK).

The inauguration ceremony was attended by CPK chief Murad Ali Soni, MPAs Ali Ahmed Khan and Fawzia Ahmed, UC Chairman Hilal Rehman, Vice Chairman Abad Afzal Ahmed, local businessmen, community representatives and senior police officers.

Briefing the participants, Soni said command and control rooms had already been established at 18 police stations across Karachi, while Gulshan-e-Maymar became the 19th police station to receive the facility. He added that similar systems would also be installed at more police stations in District West.

Additional IG Azad Khan thanked the CPK team for its support and said the use of modern technology, coupled with public cooperation, would make policing more effective. He noted that command and control rooms and surveillance cameras would play a significant role in crime prevention and detection.

The Karachi police chief said the city had witnessed a decline in crime, including a noticeable reduction in serious offences. He added that operations against narcotics and gutka had been intensified, while special measures were also being taken to curb drug use in educational institutions.
