LAHORE : The Punjab government has issued orders for removing acting medical superintendent of Tehsil Headquarters (THQ) Hospital Kot Momin and Chief Executive Officer (Health), Sargodha, from their posts over negligence of duty.
According to the official orders issued by Punjab Health Secretary, CEO Health, Sargodha, Dr Sara and acting Medical Superintendent THQ Hospital Kot Momin, Dr Fahad Shaheen, have been relieved of their responsibilities with immediate effect.
Both officers are directed to report to the Health and Population Department. The action follows a late-night inspection of THQ Hospital Kot Momin by Special Assistant to the Chief Minister Shoaib Mirza, carried out on the directions of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif.
Earlier, CM Inspection Team carried out a late-night inspection of the Tehsil Headquarters (THQ) Hospital, Kot Momin revealing serious administrative and medical lapses.
The inspection was carried out by the Special Assistant to the Chief Minister Shoaib Mirza. During the visit, only one medical officer was found present at the hospital while other doctors were absent, causing distress among patients.
The Medical Superintendent (DMS) was also found at home instead of being on duty. When questioned, the duty doctor stated that he was travelling from Lahore to Kot Momin.
A maternity patient, who undergoes delivery at home, reaches the THQ hospital for medical assistance but has to wait for more than half an hour before receiving care. The inspection team also found the Khidmat Counter and X-ray room closed while no announcements were being made regarding the availability of free medicines.
Special Assistant to CM Punjab Shoaib Mirza checked hospital records on the spot and expresses serious concern over the state of affairs.
He subsequently sent a detailed report to the relevant authorities, seeking immediate action against those responsible for negligence and poor management at THQ Hospital Kot Momin.
