RAWALPINDI/KOHAT: Security forces have killed five terrorists belonging to the Indian proxy in an Intelligence Based Operation (IBO) in Kohlu district of Balochistan on December 25.
Separately, at least five militants were killed while one civilian was martyred and 19 others injured in a clash between terrorists and police in the Takhtikhel area of Sarai Naurang in Lakki Marwat district, officials said on Friday.
The security forces conducted an IBO in Kohlu district on reported presence of terrorists belonging to Indian proxy, Fitna al Hindustan.
During the conduct of operation, forces effectively engaged the terrorists’ location, and after an intense fire exchange, five Indian sponsored terrorists were killed. Weapons, ammunition and explosives were also recovered from the terrorists, who remained actively involved in numerous terrorist activities in the area. Sanitisation operations are being conducted to eliminate any other Indian sponsored terrorist found in the area as relentless counter terrorism campaign under vision “Azm-e-Istehkam” (as approved by Federal Apex Committee on National Action Plan) by security forces and law enforcement agencies of Pakistan will continue at full pace to wipe out menace of foreign sponsored and supported terrorism from the country, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) in a statement said.
Meanwhile, at least five militants were killed while one civilian was martyred and 19 other people sustained injuries during a clash between terrorists and police in the Takhtikhel area of Sarai Naurang in Lakki Marwat district, officials said on Friday.
According to District Police Officer (DPO) Nazir Khan, the militants launched an attack on civilians, initially using a quadcopter to target residents. “The terrorists targeted ordinary citizens via a quadcopter before launching direct assaults,” the DPO said.
One civilian was martyred in the incident, while 19 people, including three police personnel, sustained injuries in the clash. Two of the injured were shifted to a hospital in Bannu in critical condition.
Security forces cordoned off the area as reinforcements, including additional police units from Bannu, reached the site.
The DPO said the militants were using sniper fire, but police personnel, assisted by local peace committee volunteers, were firmly responding to the attack.
“Five terrorists were killed and several others are believed to be injured. The operation was still going on,” Nazir Khan said.
Police from Lakki Marwat and Bannu districts participated in the operation as authorities tightened security to prevent further escalation.
