CHARSADDA: Qaumi Watan Party (QWP) provincial Chairman Sikandar Hayat Khan Sherpao on Sunday urged the federal and provincial governments to take effective and result-oriented measures to curb the growing incidents of terrorism.
He said the country was currently facing severe challenges including political and economic instability as well as a worsening law and order situation.He was speaking at a gathering held in Sherpao village in connection with the 18th anniversary of the Sherpao blast. On the occasion, Quran Khwani were held for the elevation of the martyrs’ ranks.
Paying rich tribute to the martyrs, Sikandar Sherpao said their sacrifices would always be remembered. He said the sacrifices rendered by martyrs in the war against terrorism were a bright chapter of history and could never be forgotten.
He said the security situation in the province was deteriorating with each passing day and no lessons had been learned from the past. Referring particularly to the southern districts of the province, he said the alarming rise in lawlessness had snatched peace and comfort from the residents of those areas.
He said peace was the fundamental right of the people and the foremost responsibility of the rulers. He urged the federal and provincial governments to take practical steps to rid the people of the menace of terrorism and ensure lasting peace, adding that peace was the guarantee of development and prosperity.
At the end, Fateha was offered for the martyrs and special prayers were offered for peace, security and stability in the country. District office-bearers and workers of the Qaumi Watan Party were present in large numbers.
