Pakistan keen to boost ties with Bahrain: president

ISLAMABAD: President Asif Ali Zardari has said Pakistan is keen to strengthen trade and investment ties with Bahrain and welcomes efforts to enhance bilateral trade and investment.

He invited Bahraini investors to explore opportunities in priority sectors including food security, IT and tourism. Ambassador of the Kingdom of Bahrain, Mohamed Ebrahim Mohamed Abdul Qader, called on the president at the Aiwan-e-Sadr here on Thursday. The president said Pakistan greatly valued its close and fraternal relations with Bahrain, rooted in shared religion and culture. Against the backdrop of the prime minister’s recent visit to Bahrain, the president said the warm welcome and gracious hospitality extended to him reflected the depth of ties between the two brotherly countries.

He recalled that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif had invited the Bahraini leadership including the king, the crown prince and the deputy crown prince to visit Pakistan, and said Pakistan looked forward to hosting them. He appreciated the king of Bahrain’s gracious acceptance of the invitation to visit Pakistan. The president congratulated Bahrain on its election to the United Nations Security Council for the 2026–2027 term and thanked the kingdom for its solidarity and support following recent terrorist incidents in Pakistan.
