Punjab model criminal courts decide over 9,000 cases in November

RAWALPINDI: The model courts across Punjab, including Rawalpindi, decided 9,512 cases in November this year, says a monthly performance report.

The model criminal courts decided 781 cases in November, including 103 murder cases, 298 drug-related cases and 380 other and illegal possession cases, while the appellate model courts of additional district and sessions judges decided 247 civil and family appeals, supervision and other cases.

Similarly, model civil and magisterial courts disposed of a total of 8,484 cases. The model civil courts decided 2,094 cases in a month, including regular civil, family, guardian, rent and other civil cases.

The model magistrate courts decided a total of 6,390 cases, including the cases related to first class, section 30 and other minor crimes.

On the special instructions of Chief Justice Lahore High Court Justice Alia Neelam, the model courts established across Punjab are deciding thousands of cases quickly and with quality.

As a result of comprehensive judicial reforms, modern case management system and effective monitoring of the Lahore High Court, there has been a significant improvement in the delivery of justice across the province.

According to the spokesperson for model courts, in light of the instructions issued by the National Judicial Policy-Making Committee, thanks to the initiatives of Justice Ms. Alia Neelam, timelines are being strictly implemented in district courts across the province, especially model courts, under which decisions are being issued promptly and on merit, completely avoiding unnecessary adjournments in any case.
