In Pakistan, many girls grow up being told that the streets and public transport are dangerous, which often limits their freedom to move independently. Yet, a growing number of young women are now riding bikes and scooters with confidence, transforming public spaces into areas of empowerment rather than fear. These female riders are challenging old stereotypes and showing that courage comes from action, not caution. Their presence on the road encourages respect from men and inspires other women to be assertive. Riding builds confidence, self-worth and a sense of personal capability. It is the responsibility of families and communities to protect and support women riders. By doing so, we can help women continue leading change and make Pakistan a safer, fairer and a more equal society for everyone.
