PESHAWAR: The residents of Askari-2 and its adjoining localities in Khyber Super Market have taken a sigh of relief as the Sui Northern Gas Pipeline Limited (SNGPL) has resolved a longstanding issue of low-pressure gas supply in the Peshawar Cantonment.

“This is the first time in the past 10 years that we have started cooking meals by using Sui gas in our kitchen. We have lost hope and used gas cylinders for cooking all our meals,” said Col (retired) Hafeezur Rahman.

He said he and other elders of the colony have made several attempts in the past 10 years to get attention of the SNGPL authorities and resolve this issue of low gas pressure but they kept them waiting and then nothing happened.

“The situation would become more serious in the winter as gas supply would get restored in the middle of the night when most of the people were sleeping. All of the residents had lost hope and started using gas cylinders as there was no other option to cook meals,” said the elderly retired military officer.
