LAHORE:A former DSP of Investigation Wing, Kahna, who had staged a fake abduction of his wife and daughter, has confessed to killing them after two months of misleading investigators.

Police sources said the suspect, Usman Haider Gujar, murdered his wife and daughter in October and later registered a kidnapping case to divert suspicion. The case remained a mystery for Lahore Investigation Police for two months.

Police took the former DSP into custody two days ago and interrogated him. During five to seven hours of continuous questioning, the suspect broke down and confessed to the double murder. On his disclosure, police teams recovered the bodies of the mother and daughter from Kahna and Sheikhupura areas.

Forensic teams also collected blood samples from a bed and a room door at the suspect’s house. The forensic reports later confirmed the murders. Sources said evidence was presented before two SPs and four DSPs on Monday night, after which the accused revealed all details.

Usman Haider Gujar had previously served in sensitive postings, including the CIA Lahore, and was reportedly known for his harsh attitude towards subordinates, with several complaints lodged against him.

Police sources said a long-standing domestic dispute had been ongoing between the couple. Former DSP Usman Haider had contracted two marriages, and tensions reportedly escalated after his second marriage. The deceased was his first wife, whom he had married for love, sources added.
